DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

Relieve muscular pain and tension with deep tissue massage

Do your muscles feel tense and achy?

Stiff, tight muscles can be painful, restricting your mobility and making life harder.

Deep tissue massage helps to relieve pain like this, so you can move more freely and easily.

Maybe you’ve been pushing yourself with exercise or training. Perhaps you’ve been doing gardening, DIY, or a physically demanding job. Or it could be that you’re managing a chronic condition, like back pain, neck pain or arthritis.

You may have tried chiropractors, osteopaths or homeopaths with limited results. Or you may have been recommended to try massage by your GP.

Whatever your issue, Hatt Clinic’s multi-skilled clinicians will create a personalised plan to help. They’ll combine deep tissue massage with other techniques to help treat the root cause of your problem and give you lasting results.

To get relief from muscle pain and start moving more freely, book a Massage and Manual Therapy appointment at our clinic in Devizes, Frome or Marlborough.

About deep tissue massage

Deep tissue massage is the deepest and firmest form of massage we offer. It can be used almost anywhere on the body where you’re experiencing pain and restricted movement. And it may be effective where other forms of massage haven’t worked.

For the best results, the massage should be combined with work you can do yourself at home. This could include stretching, exercise, and other measures, as recommended by your massage therapist.

What results can I expect?

In the short-term, you should find it relieves muscle tension and pain due to “knots” and tightness. You’ll feel looser and your movements will become smoother and more fluid. You’ll also experience improved blood flow and muscle suppleness.

Being able to move more freely will help you maximise the benefits of exercise. This can improve your outcomes in the long term.

Having more regular massage will help you continually manage and release the natural build-up of tension in your body.

What techniques are used in deep tissue massage?

Deep tissue massage is primarily hands-on. Your massage therapist will use their hands, forearms and elbows to make deeper, slower strokes than you might have had from a therapeutic or spa massage.

Your massage therapist may use a technique called cupping. This involves attaching plastic cups to your body using suction. The cups draw blood flow to specific areas and help to reduce tissue restrictions so you can move more easily.

They may also use blades: blunted metal implements that they “scrape” across the skin. Depending on the pressure, this can desensitise an area, improve blood flow, or help to break down scar tissue.

What it’s like to be a patient at Hatt Clinic

I went to see Maisie about a problem in the lower back on the left side. The massage and manipulation that she did on this first seems to have had some beneficial effect so far and I look forward to my next visit to her which I am hoping will reduce the problem considerably.

As referred by Tom, Emma was working on my injured shoulder. It was an interactive session to enable her to work on the right areas and thus improve my range of movement, which was much appreciated. I’ve had other services from the Hatt Clinic and all the staff I’ve met have been great and work well together as a team.

Craig was professional and courteous. He was knowledgable about the anatomy and physiology of my issue, and mindful not to aggravate it during the treatment. I really enjoyed the massage and hot stones, and felt conformable to give feedback and ask questions (which i like to do as I am interested!) I was particularly happy that a natural oil was used for the massage. It was my first manual therapy treatment but I have booked further sessions. Craig is very friendly and respectful, and I would not hesitate to recommend him. Next time I will bring a towel for the massage table, as otherwise it is bare and very chilly on the skin. The reception staff are very friendly and helpful, which helps one feel at ease immediately.

“Manual therapy treatments at the Hatt Clinic have made a big difference to my knee pain – I also now have a better understanding of the major factors causing the pain and what I can do to help prevent it.”
Dulcie
Really professional session with Josh. Clearly identified the issue and dealt with it.
