Private clinic reception team

Jo Taylor’s story

Hi, My name is Jo and I started my journey with the Hatt Clinic in Patient Services in September 2016. At the time of writing this it’s just 2 years ago; although it feels like I have been here much longer (in a really good way!).

I joined Hatt’s after a 10 year career break, during which time I was lucky enough to be a full time mum to my 3 daughters. Before my career break, I was a software developer and a project manager. I joined Hatt’s really excited to be re-discovering “me” and resuming my career, but nervous too after so long out of the “real world”. I had no need to be nervous as right from my first interview I felt like I belonged at Hatt’s and was made to feel really welcome. Over the last 2 years, I haven’t gained colleagues, I have gained a work family!

The Patient Services Team really are the hub of the business, we are the first point of contact for most of our patients, so the patient’s journey, both starts and ends with us. Patient Services is so much more than being a receptionist or administrator, we all have an active role in developing the department and providing the gold standard service we strive for. The patient experience is our focus and we work closely with all the clinicians to ensure that this happens. There is a real buzz in making this happen and I am really proud to be part of such a fantastic team.

We have an active social calendar with an annual quiz, activity weekend away, Christmas party and a family BBQ. There are also lots of additional nights out, go karting, curry nights, afternoon tea, spa days and escape rooms to name just a few. None of these are compulsory, but they are such good fun and really make work a fun place to be, and the work family stronger!

There is such a positive vibe within the whole Hatt team, everyone is encouraged and supported to reach their full potential. There is an excellent development structure. We have bi-weekly department meetings and In Service Training (where all of the clinics are shut for the morning for training and we all get together). Everyone also has monthly 1:1s with their line manager and a structured PDP and appraisals. We also have an excellent staff wellness program, with seminars, webcasts and a free class of our choice each week. In addition to this there is an excellent staff and family discount for classes, appointments and products.

I am so excited to see what the future holds for me at Hatt’s and I am really proud to be part of such an exciting, dynamic, positive and fun company. I could not have chosen a better company to resume my career with.
